Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne are forecast to have a wet grand final weekend with showers across both Saturday and Sunday.
With the AFL grand final between Richmond and Geelong on Saturday and the NRL decider between the Storm and the Panthers on Sunday, many people will be glued to their TV sets or be heading out to the stadiums to watch two of the biggest events on Australia’s sporting calendar.
But unfortunately, this year the weather may not be the best for a grand final get-together.
Sydney forecast for Panthers V Storm NRL grand final
The NRL Grand Final between the Penrith Panthers and the Melbourne Storm kicks off at 7.30pm local time.
But the Penrith faithful will be hoping the weather forecast isn’t a bad omen.
Saturday and Sunday could see Sydney hit with between 3-15mm of rain with a top of 27 degrees on Saturday and 22 on Sunday, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
Friday will see some rain too but possibly only up to about 1mm.
Melbourne forecast for AFL and NRL grand final parties
It won’t be at the MCG this year, but Victorians will still be able to enjoy the Friday public holiday ahead of the showdown between Richmond and Geelong at the Gabba in Brisbane.
Friday will bring a shower or two with up to 5mm of rain and a high of 21, with a low of 11.
Similar conditions are expected on AFL Grand Final day except the top will drop to 16.
The rain will ease on Sunday with up to 1mm forecast and a top of 18.
This year’s AFL Grand Final will start at 7.30pm (AEST).
Brisbane forecast for Geelong-Richmond AFL grand final
Footy fans heading to the Gabba on Saturday might want to pack an umbrella with the possibility of thunderstorms.
Temperatures should top 29 with 0-3mm of rain forecast.
NRL Grand Final day will warm up slightly at about 31 with 0-6mm of rain predicted.
No rain is forecast on Friday with cloudy conditions.
Adelaide weather forecast
Mother Nature has been kinder to Adelaide residents, and many probably need a bit of love after Port Adelaide were knocked out by Richmond over the weekend, with light showers only expected on Saturday.
Expect cloudy conditions with temperatures between 13-21 and about 1mm of rain at most.
Those conditions will clear for Sunday.
Between 1-5mm will fall on Friday.
Perth weather forecast
Perth residents will enjoy mostly sunny conditions across the weekend.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday should see tops in the mid-20s and lows of about 13.
Tasmania weather forecast
Light showers are forecast for Hobart from Friday onwards.
Friday should see 0-2mm of rain with a max of 18 and low of 9.
Saturday will be slightly cooler with a top of 15 and a low of 10 also with about 0-2mm of rain.
Sunday will bring colder temperatures too with a max of 14 and low of 8 but less rain with 0-1mm forecast most likely in the morning.
