Grand final day weather state-by-state guide

Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne are forecast to have a wet grand final weekend with showers across both Saturday and Sunday.

With the AFL grand final between Richmond and Geelong on Saturday and the NRL decider between the Storm and the Panthers on Sunday, many people will be glued to their TV sets or be heading out to the stadiums to watch two of the biggest events on Australia’s sporting calendar.

But unfortunately, this year the weather may not be the best for a grand final get-together.

Sydney forecast for Panthers V Storm NRL grand final

The NRL Grand Final between the Penrith Panthers and the Melbourne Storm kicks off at 7.30pm local time.

But the Penrith faithful will be hoping the weather forecast isn’t a bad omen.

Saturday and Sunday could see Sydney hit with between 3-15mm of rain with a top of 27 degrees on Saturday and 22 on Sunday, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

Friday will see some rain too but possibly only up to about 1mm.

Friday will bring a shower or two with up to 5mm of rain and a high of 21, with a low of 11.

Expect cloudy conditions with temperatures between 13-21 and about 1mm of rain at most.

Those conditions will clear for Sunday.

Between 1-5mm will fall on Friday.
