'Pranksters' replace council plants with marijuana

Council workers were left red faced after discovering a different kind of weed sprouting up in their city, as landscapers realised they had been unknowingly watering marijuana plants for weeks.

Parks and Recreation workers in Wyoming in the US weeding and watering the city’s flowers noticed a suspicious green spiked-leaf plant on June 29.

They removed the plant and alerted police, who have reportedly found two more marijuana crops since the report.

Officers believe pranksters planted drug seeds in the council-owned flower pots some time ago, leading unsuspecting Parks and Recreation workers to water and care for the unauthorised greenery.

Police Chief Roy Eckerdt suspected someone deliberately slipped marijuana seeds into the city planters, located not far from the police station, in the US town of Powell, Wyoming.

“They recognised what it was once everything started to leaf out,” he told The Powell Tribune.

“My guess is that’s somebody’s sense of humor,” Chief Eckerdt said.

“As soon as I heard that I went out and checked all the plants in front of the PD to make sure there weren’t any [marijuana plants] in any of ours,” he added.
