A man has been arrested, accused of dumping an unconscious woman and a motorbike in bushes on the Gold Coast, then running away.

It is understood the man left the woman for dead on the side of a road, at Maudsland, northwest of Surfers Paradise, then fled on a motorbike, police confirmed to Yahoo News Australia.

Witnesses told police they saw a man dump a large road bike by the side of the road at a second location, not too far from where the 27-year-old woman was found, before running off.

The woman was found about 4.15pm on Tuesday, and paramedics were able to resuscitate her at the scene. She was then transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.

The dog squad was called in to help track the man down before officers launched a dramatic arrest just before 6pm. The dumped motorbike was also found nearby.

A 34-year-old Maudsland man is assisting police with their enquiries.
