Gold Coast fitness model makes 'crazy' discovery in her bloated stomach

A Gold Coast fitness model has revealed the mysterious reason her impeccably toned washboard abs have taken on a more bloated appearance of late.

Emily Skye, 34, who boasts two-and-a-half million Instagram followers, shared the revealing truth behind the swelling of her stomach in a post to the social media site on Monday.

“I know what has been causing my gut bloating/pain,” she announced.

“I have parasites and SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) and also have been sick from being run down,” she revealed.

She admitted that while she was happy to finally know the reason for her unusual tummy woes, she knew there was still a long journey of healing ahead of her.

“It may take a long time though...which is hard since I am a bit impatient, especially about my health,” she wrote.

In an insightful explanation for her followers, Skye detailed how there was such a thing as having too much good bacteria, which had been the case for her.

“I have way too much of the Lactobacillus strains [good bacteria]. So I’ve switched my probiotics to one without them.

She claimed she had an intuitive feeling there might have been an imbalance with her gut, so wasn’t too surprised when it was proven accurate.

“Our microbiome is like an ecosystem which needs diversity. Having good quality probiotics will help ensure you have a diverse blend of the right strains of bacteria so you can have a happy and healthy gut, and feel happier and healthier all over,” she wrote.

I KNOW WHAT HAS BEEN CAUSING MY GUT BLOATING/PAIN! - sorry I felt the need to write that in bold! 😝 Haha! In case you didn’t see my story, I have parasites & SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) & also have been sick from being run down. It’s a great feeling to know I’m on the right track to getting my gut healthy again. It may take a long time though (could take a year or so) which is hard since I am a bit impatient, especially about my health. 🙈 I’m working on getting rid of the parasites & balancing my good & bad bacteria in my belly. Did you know that you can even have too much of a “good” strain of bacteria!! I have way too much of the Lactobacillus strains! So I’ve switched my probiotics to one without them! It’s funny but I’m so in tune with my body that I had a feeling that was the case! It’s so good to know for sure. ☺️ Your gut microbiota is the name given to the microbe population living in our intestine (we used to call it gut flora). It consists of trillions of microorganisms and their genetic material that live in our intestinal tract mainly comprising bacteria - or what we commonly refer to as “good & bad bacteria”. Our microbiome is like an ecosystem which needs diversity. Having good quality probiotics will help ensure you have a diverse blend of the right strains of bacteria so you can have a happy & healthy gut & feel happier & healthier all over. When a specific species in your gut ecosystem are missing your entire system is compromised. That’s why I believe in changing up your probiotics! An imbalance of gut bacteria can affect almost everything in your body - even your mood & mental health! Anyway I could go on and on about this as I find it all so interesting. I want to do a podcast episode on “gut health” with a gut health specialist!
