'GMA's Ginger Zee Stuns Fans With 'Unbelievable' Footage of LA Wildfire's 'Apocalyptic Devastation'
Ginger Zee is getting a firsthand look at the devastating damage caused by the wildfires in Los Angeles.
In a video posted to her socials on Thursday, Jan. 9, the Good Morning America meteorologist shared footage taken during a drive around Altadena, Calif., where the deadly Eaton Fire has been burning for two days.
In her post, Zee, 43, filmed her view of the streets in Altadena that were completely destroyed by the blaze.
"It just never ends," she added of the wreckage.
"Apocalyptic devastation," one of her followers wrote under Zee's Instagram post on Thursday, while another said it was "unbelievable" to see the homes and businesses that have been burned to the ground.
In her video, Zee confirmed that the Eaton Fire has also claimed the lives of five people.
In another post shared on Thursday, Zee wrote, "After the sun came up in Altadena, we drove around and started speaking to neighbors. We found out quickly that this part of Altadena has a concentrated population of first responders. Many of which have lost their homes in the Eaton fire."
The TV personality documented her conversation with LA Fire Department Caption Dan Lievense, who was fighting the Pacific Palisades Fire when he realized he needed to return home because the Eaton Fire was approaching his property.
Once he arrived, he was met with flames engulfing his neighbors' homes. Fortunately, he—along with his brother and son—was able to save four houses on the street by using a fire hydrant and a hose.
"I can’t imagine having to work and deal with this loss," Zee wrote.
As of Thursday afternoon, Jan. 9, the Eaton Fire had burned over 10,000 acres near Altadena and Pasadena and destroyed over 900 structures, per KTLA.
