Girlfriend of 'vampire cult leader' on trial in Tinder murder case

A woman standing trial in relation to the brutal murder of another woman on a Tinder date "got off sexually" on speaking about torture and killing, a US court has heard.

The prosecutors flagged their argument on the first day of a bombshell trial involving claims of a vampire sex cult got underway, The Daily Beast reported.

Bailey Boswell, 26, faces the death penalty if convicted of first-degree murder in the November 2017 slaying of Sydney Loofe.

She stands accused of helping her self-proclaimed "vampire cult leader" boyfriend date and subsequently murder the 24-year-old woman in the US state of Nebraska.

Boswell had arranged a date with Ms Loofe through the internet dating app — a meet-up from which she never returned.

Boswell's boyfriend, 54-year-old Aubrey Trail, was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in Ms Loofe's death in July 2019. He testified he accidentally choked Ms Loofe to death during a sex party that involved Boswell, AP reported.

Trail, an ex-convict who specialised in fraud and deception, went on social media shortly after Ms Loofe was reported missing to proclaim in a video he and Boswell had nothing to do with her disappearance.

During his trial, he slashed his own neck in front of jurors, but survived. He reportedly yelled, "Bailey is innocent, and I curse you all", before swiping a pen across his neck, photographers in the courtroom reported.

In opening statements of Boswell’s trial on Friday (local time) the prosecution walked the jury, made up of eight men and seven women, through the timeline of events, which started in November 2017 when Boswell and Ms Loofe met on a dating app.

It ultimately ended when Ms Loofe's body parts were found in 14 pieces in ditches along a state highway, 19 days after her disappearance.

According to the Omaha World Herald, the jurors were told by the prosecution Boswell was complicit in the murder.

“They will tell you that Bailey Boswell got off sexually talking about those kinds of things,” Assistant Attorney General Sandra Allen said on Friday (local time), describing three women who will testify against Boswell.
