Girl, 6, strangles one-year-old brother in car while dad goes shopping

A six-year-old girl allegedly strangled her little brother while they were left in the car as their father went shopping.

Adrian Middleton, 26, left his one-year-old son and six-year-old daughter in the car while he shopped at a store for over an hour on May 20 in Texas, local outlet KHOU11 reported based on court documents.

When the father returned to the car in the parking lot, his daughter was crying and told her father that she had done “something bad” the outlet reported.

He found his son unconscious with the seatbelt wrapped around him and performed CPR while he waited for emergency services to arrive.

The girl told police that she was playing with her little brother in the car and he started crying and she got angry, so she wrapped a seat belt around him, ABC13 reported. She told officers she believed her little brother was asleep.

An autopsy ruled the boy died from homicide by strangulation, while the father has been charged with abandoning a child ABC13 reported.
