Girl, 5, dies after accidentally being shot in the head by her friend

A five-year-old girl has died after one of her friends accidentally shot her in the head while they were playing.

Jada Willingham, 5, was playing with her friend last Friday when their babysitter heard a gunshot, followed by crying.

When the babysitter entered the room, she found the little girl bleeding from her face, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Jada was taken to hospital where she later died.

According to AJC, the friend said she had only pulled the trigger back “a little bit”. At the time of the shooting she was one of four children at the home in Georgia.

The following day, 36-year-old Chad Brooks Sr, the father of the other children, was arrested.

Authorities do not believe he was the shooter, but the gun is believed to belong to him, WXIA-TV reported.

The arrest warrant seen by AJC said Brooks had left the hand gun unattended, and that he has been charged with second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to children.

A GoFundMe page set up to help cover funeral arrangements describes Jada as a “beautiful, loving girl”.

“Due to this sad accident a mother is without her beautiful 5 year old daughter this holiday season,” the GoFundMe says.

“This 5 year old little girl will never get to see another birthday, holidays, school graduation again and it isn’t fair. “
