Girl, 3, dies after being hit by car outside Queensland service station

A three-year-old girl has died after being hit by a ute at a service station north of Brisbane.

Emergency crews attended the scene off the Bruce Highway at Burpengary around 5pm local time, with a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokesperson telling ABC that paramedics carried out CPR on the child for some time.

The entrance to the car park and the BP on the Bruce Highway has been closed while emergency services are at the scene.

It is expected investigators will remain there into the night to try to establish exactly how it happened.

A QAS spokesperson said the driver of the vehicle is being treated for shock at Caboolture Hospital.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
