An 11-year-old girl who experienced a serious asthma attack on the way home from her mother’s funeral has passed away.
Syira Coutain-Harebin was taken to hospital after having problems breathing in the car after the service for her mother, Mary Coutain, The Sun reports.
The girl, who had celebrated her 11th birthday in recent weeks, was being treated by doctors when she suffered a second asthma attack.
“I am broken to have lost a dear friend and now her little girl so tragically and suddenly,” a friend of the family wrote on a JustGiving page.
“The school community is reeling and her poor family are bereft and utterly devastated with grief.”
Syira was described as loving, smart and funny.
“She was the sweetest, dearest little girl,” the friend said.
Nearly $11,000 has been raised by a JustGiving page set up for the child’s funeral.
