Giggling boy rides six-metre python in floodwaters in Vietnam

A fearless three-year-old boy has been filmed laughing while playing with a six-metre snake in ankle-deep floodwaters, while his family watch on.

The little boy giggles, while sitting propped up on the enormous serpent, in ankle-deep water.

The youngster, reportedly named Truong, could not contain his excitement, straddled atop the beast in a flooded yard in the Vietnamese district of Ha Trung.

The python appears not too fussed by the human encounter.

His aunty said the enormous reptile was a “very gentle” pet the family has had for four years.

“It was a rainy day and the water flooded to the edge of the yard. So they put the python in there to play and relax,” An Nguyen told Pattaya One.

The destructive floods that battered northern and central Vietnam beginning a week ago have been labelled the worst in years, resulting in at least 54 deaths and dozens more missing, the disaster prevention agency said on Friday.

The flood has also killed or washed away 180,000 animals, more than 300 homes collapsed, and more than 34,000 other houses have been submerged.

Vietnam is prone to destructive storms and flooding due to its long coastline. A typhoon wrecked havoc across central provinces just last month.
