A dust storm has passed through the northwest city of Mildura, as a cold front moved across Victoria.
The storm, brought by strong winds of up to 90 km/h, rolled over Mildura about 5pm on Tuesday, darkening the city and reducing visibility.
Weather bureau duty forecaster Christie Johnson said the dust storm resulted in poor visibility at the Mildura airport for about half an hour.
A severe weather warning was put in place for the centres of Mildura, Ouyen, Walpeup, Robinvale and Birchip.
The State Emergency Service advised that people should move vehicles under cover or away from trees, secure or put away loose outdoor items, keep clear of fallen power lines.
