'Get in the car': Mum reveals brazen attempt to abduct girl, 6, as they walked from school

A six-year-old girl riding her bike was approached by an unknown woman in an attempted abduction on the Sunshine Coast, the girl’s mother said.

The woman told the girl to get into the car so she could pat her puppy, the mum said in a warning about the ordeal shared by her friend on Facebook.

The mum, who wishes to remain anonymous, had just collected her daughter from school in Currimundi. She was walking her own dog on Saffron Drive while her kids rode their bikes when she stopped momentarily to help her son while her daughter rode ahead.

Her daughter then came riding back to them in tears.

The six-year-old told her mother that a woman in her late 30s in an orangey/red-coloured sedan had tried to get the girl into her car.

The parent’s message claimed the woman said, “Get in the car, I’ve got a puppy in the here and you can pat it”.

“She straight away told the woman ‘NO’ and the woman apparently then called her a ‘F***** little s***’, before driving off, and my daughter rode straight back to me crying to tell me.”

‘Stranger danger’ warning to others

In the post the mother urged other parents to remind their kids about stranger danger and to keep their little ones in view and close by.

“Luckily my baby girl was aware of stranger danger and to never go with anyone, no matter what they say to her, even if they’ve got a cute puppy..or for any reason, she knew not to go with anyone,” the post continued.

Police said they have received a report of suspicious behaviour and are still working to verify that the incident occurred.
