Genshin Impact's Queen of the Summer Festival is back!

Yoimiya has got to be one of the most underrated DPS characters Genshin Impact has released so far.

Now that this Pyro bow-wielder will be having her first ever rerun in a solo banner, along with her best-in-slot weapon Thundering Pulse, here are a few reasons why you should pull for the Inazuman Festival Queen!

Firework maker and devastating damage dealer

Yoimiya is all about her Normal Attacks, making her a devastating damage dealer by just spamming a single button.

This means she can face bosses well on her own and can save you when you’re in a pinch fighting the solo bosses introduced in Spiral Abyss rotations.

However, that doesn’t mean she’s only viable for solo bosses. When paired with a great crowd control character like Venti, she can easily decimate mobs without even breaking a sweat.

Yoimiya’s Elemental Skill, Niwabi Fire-Dance, is her bread and butter. When cast, she infuses her normal attacks with Pyro for 10 seconds, which also increases the damage she can deal.

Paired with her fast Normal Attack animations, Yoimiya basically becomes a Pyro Machine Gun pewpewpewpewpew-ing until her way to victory.

Personally, it’s pretty fun having to only press a single button repeatedly and ending my opponents.

Yoimiya’s Elemental Burst, Ryuukin Saxifrage, however, leans more towards supporting the rest of the party.

With her burst, she deals area-of-effect Pyro DMG and marks an opponent with an Aurous Blaze that periodically explodes when hit with Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attacks from characters other than Yoimiya.

With that, your normal rotation with Yoimiya will begin with her popping her skill and bombarding enemies with wave after wave of Pyro DMG.

Once the buff from Niwabi-Fire Dance expires, you can then use Yoimiya's burst and switch out to your sub-DPS, whose damage will be buffed by the Aurous Blaze.

After eight seconds have passed (Niwabi Fire-Dance has a 18-second cooldown), you can then switch back to Yoimiya to begin another rotation... that is if the enemy hasn't already turned to ashes.

Team Compositions

To maximize Yoimiya's damage output, it’s best to place her in a team that complements each other’s elements for reactions and combinations.

As such, Yoimiya can be the driver for a Vaporize/Melt composition alongside a buffer and a crowd control character.

That said, Yoimiya isn't limited to a reaction-based team, either.

Since she deals pretty much all of her damage through Normal Attacks, Yoimiya can be paired with Yun Jin or a C6 Thoma in a team where she just pewpewpews her way to victory.

Yoimiya’s premium team can be quite a dent on the budget, because it’s composed of 5-star characters like Yelan, Kazuha, and Zhongli, but it’s not a deterrent to playing her because there are amazing 4-stars out there who go well with her and her kit.

Here are some F2P-friendly team compositions you can try out:

  • Yoimiya, Xingqiu, Sucrose, Noelle

  • Yoimiya, Xingqiu, Bennett, Yun Jin

  • Yoimiya, Yun Jin, Barbara, Thoma

Fun to play, quick to build

Yoimiya’s kit is by far one of the friendliest for non-spending players, as she has her own dedicated artifact set and can thrive with a free-to-play bow.

Her dedicated artifact set, Shimenawa’s Reminiscence, increases your Normal, Charged and Plunging ATK damage by 50% for 10s, at the cost of 15 of your energy after casting your elemental skill.

As such, giving her this set fully maximizes the potential of her skill’s damage.

Since Yoimiya uses her burst after she deals her damage, the energy cost from Shimenawa's Reminiscence 4-piece set bonus isn't much of a problem.

Another artifact set that can work well with Yoimiya is the 4-piece Crimson Witch of Flames. Although this set won’t greatly increase your Normal Attacks like Shimenawa’s Reminiscence, you can fully invest in your reactive team as it increases your Pyro DMG bonus and the reactive damage you get when inflicting Pyro on elemental-infused enemies (like Vaporize, Melt, Overloaded, and Burning).

If you don't have enough good artifacts yet for a 4-piece set, you can also run with a 2-piece Shimenawa's Reminiscence and a 2-piece Crimson Witch of Flames.

You should look for an ATK% sands, Pyro DMG bonus goblet, and a Crit Rate or DMG circlet.

For her weapon of choice, it’s a no-brainer: her best-in-slot is the 5-star Thundering Pulse.

This bow's passive significantly increases your normal damage in stacks, which makes it ideal for a heavy-hitting Yoimiya.

But if you opt to stay a low-spender, the 4-star weapon Rust is one of her best bets. While it decreases the damage of your charged attacks (which you’ll barely do anyway), it will increase your normal attack damage instead.

For craftable, the best (and only) option you can go for is the Hamayumi, which acts like the Shimenawa’s Reminiscence artifact set, but instead of losing 15 energy, you get your normals and charged attacks buffed when you have 100% energy.

If you enjoy easy kits with big damage, consider Yoimiya as the one for you!

She may seem daunting to use at first, but having her pewpew your way to victory will be one of the best decisions you can make while playing Genshin Impact.

Yoimiya is the banner 5-star character for the second half of Genshin Impact version 2.8, which will run until 22 August.
