Game of Thrones bosses David Benioff and D. B. Weiss's new Netflix series has confirmed its release date.

As part of Netflix's Geeked Week, the streamer has unveiled a first look at the science fiction series 3 Body Problem and also confirmed it will premiere worldwide on March 21, 2024.

The series takes place across two distinct periods of time, first with the story of a promising young astrophysicist, Ye Wenjie (Zine Tseng), conscripted into the Chinese military following the Cultural Revolution.

Still haunted by the brutal murder of her father during China's political upheaval, Ye Wenjie is sent to a remote radar base that holds some frightening secrets.

Her work at this base echoes through time to the present day, as a group of scientists try to figure why the laws of nature have suddenly started to unravel.

The ensemble cast features Inventing Anna's Saamer Usmani, Watchmen's Jovan Adepo, Godzilla vs. Kong's Eiza González and Doctor Strange star Benedict Wong, as well as Mulan's Rosalind Chao as the modern-day Ye Wenjie.

Co-creators Benioff and Weiss are also reuniting with former Game of Thrones cast members John Bradley, Liam Cunningham and Jonathan Pryce on 3 Body Problem.

There has been a long road to 3 Body Problem finally making it to screens, as it was first announced by Netflix all the way back in September 2020. Production took place in both the UK and China.

3 Body Problem will premiere worldwide on Netflix on March 21, 2024.
