I've spoken to more dermatologists, skincare experts and make-up artists than I care to count (for my job, by the way, not because I'm some kind of fanatic), and each and every single one of them, has had one thing in common:
Their absolute insistence that, above everything else, I need to apply sun cream every day.
I know they're right but, for one reason or another, I've never managed to keep it as part of my routine for long.
Perhaps it's because the sun creams I've tried in the past made my pores feel clogged or left a white residue on my skin, long after I'd tried to rub it in.
But then I spotted an intriguing blue and orange bottle in the background of a FaceTime call with a friend.
"What's that?" I asked her, which sent her launching into a 10 minute (and I'm being kind there) spiel about her new sun serum, how it was so easy to apply, lighter and less tacky than other SPFs, and dried super fast over the top of moisturiser.
The product in question was the Queen Screen Luminising Sun Serum SPF 50+ by Ultra Violette from Space NK - and if a suncream can ever be cool, let me tell you, this is it.
So, I invested and I'm happy to tell you that I am now that woman that launches into a 10-minute spiel about my suncream whenever I get the opportunity.
The formula is light, non-greasy and can be applied to your face via a pipette to ensure minimal waste and ensure your hands don't feel sticky for hours afterwards.
I didn't buy it to improve my skin, I bought it to protect my skin in the long run, but the glow-boosting serum has left my face looking luminous and more youthful.
This is likely thanks to the antioxidant-rich kakadu plum, which provides a vitamin C boost to help protect skin from damaging free radicals.
In addition, a peptide called dragosine plus helps to protect skin from damaging blue light from screens, while high-factor, broad-spectrum sun protection shields the delicate skin on the face from UVA and UVB rays.
If you'd asked me last year whether I'd spend £36 on a sun cream I'd have told you "no way", ask me now and I'd tell you: "again and again".
