An online fundraiser has been set-up to support the children of slain Rockhampton mother Karen Gilliland.

Ms Gilliland was found dead in her home late last week with multiple stab wounds.

Two of her three children were believed to be home when she was killed.

A GoFundMe page was established on Sunday morning with the aim of raising $30,000 for her children.

Within six hours, the campaign had raised more than half of its goal target.

More than 160 people, many wanting to remain anonymous, have pledged $16,860.

Mrs Gilliland's brother Bryan Cranston, who is taking care of her children, set up the fundraiser.

"Rest assured, they are safe in the loving arms of our family and we will do everything we can to give them the guidance and support that Karen would have wanted," he posted on the GoFundme page

"Any money raised here will be used solely for them."

Ms Gilliland's estranged husband Nigel has been charged with her murder.
