The anti-vaxxer community has launched a fundraiser for a Melbourne doctor who bragged about getting hundreds of children exempted from vaccinations.
The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency notified Dr John Piesse on Thursday it was looking to suspend his medical registration following claims he helped 600 families to dodge "no jab no play" legislation.
"It's time for the community which Dr Piesse treats with such respect and dignity, to rally around him and help him avoid the loss of his registration," the fundraiser statement said.
The fundraiser aims to raise $100,000 to help the doctor retain his medical registration.
The controversial doctor has been under investigation by AHPRA since 2016.
Both state and federal health ministers called for AHPRA to throw the book at Dr Piesse.
"Practitioners who pedal lies and misinformation about immunisation are a menace and put the health and safety of children at great risk - they must be stopped," Acting Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley said previously.
