The final words said by a mum-to-be to a close friend before she and her husband were hit by a car and killed in South East Queensland have been revealed.
Kate Leadbetter, 31, and her partner Matty Fields, 37, died in Alexandra Hills on Australia Day while walking their dogs.
The driver of the car, a boy aged 17, has been charged with murder. Ms Leadbetter was six months pregnant with a baby boy when she was killed.
A roadside memorial for the couple and their unborn son Miles is growing by the day.
According to 7News, one note from a friend of Ms Leadbetter refers to some of the last words she said.
“When I left your place on Sunday, your last words to me were ‘I love spending time with you, you fill my cup’,” the note read.
“I will hold onto those last words forever.”
She added, “you fill my cup too”.
Families of the pair spoke of their devastation on Friday.
A father of one of the two said they are “grief-stricken” and heartbroken they will never be able to share the joy of Ms Leadbetter and Mr Fields becoming parents for the first time.
The dad revealed a nursery had already been made for little Miles.
“We were so looking forward to sharing that adventure with them,” he said through tears.
