If you were looking to get yourself a good deal on a smart speaker for your home, there’s one deal you need to know about: YouTube is handing out free Google Nest Minis to some Australians.

In a post on deals website Ozbargain yesterday, user MSG said: “Opened up the YouTube app and was greeted with this offer.”

However, it comes with a pretty big catch: you’ve got to be a subscriber of YouTube Premium or Google Play Music.

He offered a link to Google’s Promotions webpage and added: “Several users have reported success.”

If you are one, try your luck with the above link to see if you’re eligible for the free goodie.

However, chances are, if you haven’t got either one of those subscriptions, you might be met with a web page that simply says: “This offer is expired or invalid.”

Ausdroid’s Phil Tann, a YouTube Premium subscriber, was able to nab himself the Google Nest Mini without problem.

“The offer appeared on my phone this morning when I opened YouTube. I was somewhat surprised, but quickly followed the bouncing ball and grabbed myself a free Nest Mini,” he said on Ausdroid.

“A quick scout around shows that the offer is valid for Australian subscribers, specifically paying Aussie dollars. So if you’ve got a Google Play Music or YouTube Premium subscription it’s well worth a quick look.”

So if you’re already got one of those subscriptions, it could be a great way to nab yourself or a loved one an easy and surprise Christmas gift.
