France beat Croatia 4-2 to become World Cup champions

Jubilant celebrations have erupted across France after becoming FIFA World Cup Champions!

France took on Croatia in a much-anticipated World Cup final that saw a goal for each side in the first 30 minutes of play and an eventual 4-2 win for Les Bleus.

France was pinned back for a majority of the first half, with Croatia dominating possession and shot total. It appeared as though Croatia was going to lead the game before long.

France opened the scoring with a free kick that was deflected into the goal off the forehead of Mario Mandzukic for an own goal. They then regained the lead, after Croatia tied it up, off of a penalty. Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe then stepped up to double, then triple, the lead, respectively to solidify the victory for Les Bleus.

Croatia, for their part, played with heart and passion of champions, just without the result. Their attacking form and chance creation was a beautiful sight to see for the 90 minutes of the match — even after the three long 120-minute matches that brought them here.
