Four-year-old's haunting last words before being killed by her father

A shocking new confession from the man convicted of killing his pregnant wife and two daughters has revealed heartbreaking information about his eldest daughter’s final words.

Chris Watts, from the US state of Colorado, was sentenced to life without parole for the August 2018 murders of his wife Shanann, 34, and their children Bella, four, and Celeste, three.

He had previously claimed it was his wife who killed the girls, leading him to strangle Shanann out of retaliation.

But in a new five-hour long confession with the FBI, Watts revealed his eldest daughter, four-year-old Bella, begged for her life after witnessing him dump her mother’s body and kill her younger sister.

The new information came to light through Shanann’s family attorney, Stephen Lambert, who spoke exclusively on the Dr Phil show.

According to Mr Lambert, Watts had strangled Shanann and wrapped her body in a sheet before loading it into his truck. He also put both girls – still alive – in the vehicle.

He drove 45 minutes to the burial site and dumped Shanann’s body in a dirt pile next to the truck, then turned his attention to his girls.

“He walks over and takes Cece’s – Celeste’s – favourite blanket and smothers her to death,” Mr Lambert told Dr Phil, adding that Watts then took the little girl’s body out of the truck.

“At this point, Bella had unbuckled herself from the vehicle, and he (Watts) went back to the vehicle and at that point Bella said, ‘please daddy do not do to me what you just did to Cece’.

“Then he killed Bella.”

According to information revealed in Watts’ sentencing hearing, there were signs Bella had fought for her life.

‘Please daddy, do not do to me what you just did to Cece.’

Originally, after his wife and daughters went missing, Watts spoke to reporters, saying they had vanished without a trace.

“My kids are my life,” he said at the time. “I mean, those smiles light up my life.”

The children’s bodies were found in oil tanks on the property of a former employer, while his wife’s body was found nearby in a shallow grave.
