Four arrested after teen found living with animals, eating twigs

Four people have been jailed after a 15-year-old was found living with barn animals and eating twigs, leaves and grass.

Investigators found the boy in a barn in Meeker, Oklahoma, living with farm animals such as goats, rabbits and chickens after a concerned passer by rang the authorities.

The boy, who weighed only 36 kilograms, was suffering injuries including head wounds which had become infested by maggots.

In an affidavit, the boy said his father “treated this by digging out the maggots and closing the wound with superglue” local news outlet The Oklahoman reported.

Authorities also reported that they boy said his father shot him in the leg with 12-gauge shotgun about a year ago. According to the affidavit, several pellets of birdshot were found in one of the boy’s legs.

The boy’s father, Jimmy Lee Jones Sr., 34, stepmother, Amy A. Jones, 46 and two older step brothers, Jonathan Luke Plank, 20, and Tyler Joe Adkins, 24, were arrested on child neglect complaints.

The boy had not been allowed to leave the property for two years and during this time, his parents reported that he was home schooled.

After he was found, the boy was taken ­­to a local hospital for treatment.
