Formwork collapse in Welshpool

Union staff say six construction workers are lucky to be alive after they fell about 4.5m when the formwork they were working on collapsed at a Welshpool warehouse yesterday.

One man is understood to have critical injuries. He was trapped under the collapsed formwork that gave way as the workers poured concrete at a BGC warehouse about 7am.

Firefighters are understood to have freed the trapped man.

A St John Ambulance spokesman said paramedics transported the man and two others to Royal Perth Hospital where two of the men remained last night.

Three men with minor injuries were taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital where one remained last night.

A WorkSafe spokeswoman confirmed the agency was investigating the incident.
