Former youth worker charged with sexual abuse of young boy

A former youth worker has been bailed after allegedly sexually abusing a young boy over three years in NSW’s Riverina district.

Jason Robert Hedditch was arrested on Thursday following an investigation into reports a 10-year-old boy had been indecently assaulted on a number of occasions.

Police allege Hedditch abused the boy several times between 2015 and 2018 when the child was aged between six and nine.

It’s alleged he was employed as a youth worker at the time.

The man was charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault of a victim under 16 and refused bail.

Hedditch was granted release on $5000 bail at Griffith Local Court on Friday and ordered to live at Queanbeyan, report daily to police and stay away from children.

He is expected back before the same court again on May 15.
