Former Sen. Claire McCaskill Spots ‘Clever Way’ Kamala Harris Can Undercut Trump At Debate
Former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) on Monday talked with MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace about the predictable attacks that Donald Trump will launch on Kamala Harris during Tuesday’s presidential debate.
The former president and current GOP nominee is “not capable of new-ness, just new lows,” noted Wallace.
Democratic nominee Harris “has an opportunity to explain to people about the reality of evidence,” said McCaskill, who cited the vice president’s “credibility as a prosecutor.”
Harris “could do this in a clever way and if I know her, she will, saying, ‘We can’t just lie, we have to have evidence, have to have facts,’” McCaskill added. “‘That’s the only way we move forward.’”
Expectations are sky-high for Harris but rock bottom for Trump, McCaskill also said, adding that Trump is “capable of dragging the debate down to a place that frankly is ugly.”
Harris will also face the “tricky” issue of separating herself from President Joe Biden but not disrespecting him, said McCaskill.
Harris needs “to be the new kid on the block,” she added.
