Former currency exec to be sentenced

A former currency executive at a Reserve Bank subsidiary is due to be sentenced in Melbourne after he admitted trying to pass off a payment to a Malaysian businessman as marketing expenses.

Former Securency executive Clifford John Gerathy in May pleaded guilty to a charge of false accounting over a $79,502 payment made to Malaysian businessman Abdul Kayum Syed Ahmad in 2006.

Gerathy is due to be sentenced by Victorian Supreme Court Justice Kevin Bell on Friday.
