A safe may have been “tampered with” after a supermarket was ransacked during a break-in in Melbourne’s inner west.

The Braybrook FoodWorks on South Rd was broken into just before 6am on Wednesday, with photos revealing knocked-over shelves and debris strewn across the floor inside the shop.

Police believe two offenders forced their way into the supermarket just before 6am.

“At this early stage it appears a safe may have been tampered with,” the spokeswoman said.

“It is unclear if anything was stolen.”

Anyone with information has been urged to come forward.
