Adelaide’s CBD has been thrown into traffic chaos after a car crash shut down a major road.

Traffic was reduced to a single lane on West Terrace after two cars collided near Sturt Street at 5:30pm on Thursday.

One of the cars, a white SUV, was flipped onto its roof due to the blaze.

No one was injured and police are investigating what caused the crash.

Southbound traffic is severely impacted by the crash.

One of its sides was also significantly damaged in the crash.

The driver of the second vehicle, a black SUV, was seen at the scene after the crash.

Traffic was left bumper to bumper in the southbound lanes as crews work to right the car and clear the area.

“The road was closed whilst the cars were towed from the scene and the debris cleared,” a South Australia Police spokesperson said.

The occupants suffered minor injuries in the crash.
