Fish and chip shop owner's heartbreaking sign on door ahead of closure
The owners of a fish and chip shop in Adelaide’s south have cited a “lack of community support” for the closing of their store in a heartbreaking message they stuck to the front door.
Pimpala Fish n Grill in Old Reynella officially closed their doors to the public at the end of last month, not without pulling on a few heart strings.
Their final message to the public reads:
“Due to the lack of local community support for this small business we will be closing the doors on March 31 2019,” the sign says.
“We wish to thank our loyal customers for their past patronage.
“This shop may reopen if they can find someone else who wants to lose their life’s savings.”
The store’s owner, Terry Barlow, confirmed the news on Facebook telling his followers that “small shops are closing everywhere as no one supports them anymore”.
He said further developments at the suburb’s notorious “junk food corner” will only see more small businesses perish.
“I am sad that this part of my life has ended but it is something I need to do,” he wrote.
“Thank you to all that have supported me over the past three years, I really do appreciate your patronage but more over, your friendship.”
