Ferry suspended due to mechanical fault
Car ferry services have been suspended for at least a week because of a mechanical fault, a council said.
The Windermere Ferry, which saves motorists the long commute around the lake, went out of action on Thursday.
An initial inspection revealed a fault with one of the drive wheels which will need to be fixed before the service can resume, Westmorland and Furness Council said.
It said the Mallard would be out of service until at least 21 November.
The service has been halted "for the safety of our passengers and crew" and a signed diversion is in place, the council added.
