Captain's brilliant TikTok shut down of 'sexist' question

A captain has had a hilarious and appropriate response to a troll who left a sexist remark on her TikTok video.

Captain Kate McCue boasts a sizeable social media following, where she captures what it is like being the captain of Royal Caribbean’s Celebrity Cruises.

In one TikTok video, which now has over one million views, Capt McCue responded to a sexist question in the most perfect way possible.

“Normally, as I'm scrolling through comments and I see something like this I totally ignore it and move on with my life but I think it's about high time that I address this because it's 2020,” Captain McCue said on TikTok.

The comment she was referring to was featured on the screen and said: “How can you be a captain? Your [sic] only a woman”.

Captain McCue said she was shocked someone didn’t know the difference between “your” and “you’re” and offered a simple way for the troll to differentiate the two.

“So just a quick reference ‘you’re’ as in ‘you are’, like ‘you are sexist’,” she said.

“‘Your’ is something possessive it belongs to you, like your ignorance.

“But don't worry, I'm here for you. If you need any more clarification, you can find me here in my captain's chair.”

Captain McCue then takes a step back to sit on her captain’s chair, or as someone in the comments put it - “QUEEN SAT IN HER THRONE”.

Many people in the comments appreciated the savage clap back. One person even claimed the captain’s response was “one of the best responses ever”.

“Yessss... we love a 2 for 1 educational video roast,” someone said.

“Immediately apply cold water to the burn,” another said.

It appears the person who left the sexist comment has since deleted their TikTok account.

Captain McCue usually posts content on her social accounts pertaining to her profession, answering questions her followers have about working on a cruise ship.

Though Royal Caribbean cruises have suspended many of their programs due to the pandemic, Captain McCue remains onboard and also gives insights into her life at sea.
