Famous Spots Devastated By California Fires, Including the 'Hacks' Mansion and Will Rogers' Ranch House
Thousands of structures in California have been impacted by the devastating wildfires. Among them are Will Rogers’ historic ranch house and a high school that's been featured in Hollywood films.
During a press conference on Jan. 9, Fire Chief of the Los Angeles Fire Department Kristin M. Crowley said: "Damage assessments are ongoing at the Palisades fire, however preliminary reports estimate the damage or destroyed structures to be in the thousands. It is safe to say that the Palisades fire is one of the most destructive natural disasters in the history of Los Angeles."

Famous spots devastated by California fires
Palisades Charter High School
On Jan. 7, FOX 11 Los Angeles reporter Matthew Seedorff shared a video on X, writing: "Flames have erupted at Palisades Charter High School."
The famous school, which has served as a filming location for Teen Wolf, Carrie, Freaky Friday and Project X, was "badly damaged," per the Los Angeles Times. The outlet reported on Jan. 8 that at the moment, 70 percent of the campus had survived.
The Hacks house
Deadline reports that, according to an eyewitness, the Altadena mansion seen on Hacks has burnt down in the Eaton fire. Neither Deadline nor Parade has verified its destruction (mandatory evacuation orders are still in place for the area), but apparently only the facade of the 1915 Spanish Colonial Revival mansion is still standing.

The Theater Palisades
Playbill reported that the theater was lost to the Palisades fire. NBCLA captured the theater engulfed in flames on Jan. 7.
A message on the theater's website reads: "For the immediate future all operations at Theatre Palisades, Pierson Playhouse are suspended until further notice by the Board of Directors owing to the serious damage sustained in the Palisades Fire."
Will Rogers' Ranch
California State Parks announced on Jan. 8 that the Palisades fire had destroyed Will Rogers’ historic ranch house and buildings at Will Rogers State Historic Park. However, California State Parks revealed that they were able "to evacuate the horses and some of the cultural and historical artifacts, including artwork, at Will Rogers SHP ahead of the fire."
Topanga Ranch Motel
Parts of Topanga State Park were destroyed by the Palisades fire, including the Topanga Ranch Motel that was once owned by William Randolph Hearst. The bungalow-style motel, which was was built in 1929 and acquired by State Parks in 2001, is said to have been a "popular film and television location."
The Bunny Museum
The Bunny Museum in Altadena was "burnt to the ground." The museum shared in an Instagram post on Jan. 8 that the cats and bunnies were saved, along with "only a few bunny items." They noted in another post that they will rebuild. The Bunny Museum is described as the "world's only museum about everything bunny" and "Guinness World Record certified—1999, 2011, 2023."
Malibu Eateries
According to reports and posts on social media, Rosenthal Wine Bar & Patio, Reel Inn Malibu, Cholada Thai Beach Cuisine, Moonshadows and Malibu Feed Bin all burned down in the Palisades fire.

Palisades Village
Per ABC7, the public library, as well as "two major grocery stores, a pair of banks and several boutiques" were destroyed in the Palisades Village. The Wrap reported on Jan. 8 that Serena & Lily is one of the stores that was burned.
Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center
The Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center wrote on its website that "despite the best efforts of the fire department, multiple news organizations have reported that all campus buildings" were lost, adding, "We are unable to access the neighborhood to confirm, so can only watch the news along with you, and hold each other tightly."
