Family kicked off plane over body odour

A family claims they were booted from their flight home after passengers allegedly complained about their body odour.

On Wednesday evening, Yossi and Jennie Adler and their 19-month-old daughter were told to get off their American Airlines plane from Miami to Detroit while they were in the midst of boarding.

“All of a sudden, as soon as they took us off, they closed the gate and then they said, ‘Sorry, sir, some people complained you had body odour and we’re not letting you back on,’” Mr Adler told local Florida station WPLG.

In a video of the incident captured by a mobile phone, Mr Yossi denies having an odour to the staff at the gate.

“Nobody here has odour,” he said.

They were supposedly promised they could collect their luggage from the departing plane but WPLG reports the flight departed with their possessions.

“They have our car seat, stroller, everything,” Ms Adler told the station.

Yahoo could not reach the Adler family for comment.

An American Airlines spokesperson told Yahoo the family were asked to deplane as they were concerned about the comfort of other passengers due to the odour.

“Our team members took care of the family by providing overnight accommodation and meals and rebooking them for the next available flight,’ the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson confirmed the family members were separated from their suitcases but claimed they were waiting for them upon arrival the next morning.

On Thursday, the Adlers self-consciously boarded their rescheduled flight.

“We stopped several people in the airport and, it’s embarrassing, but we asked them, ‘do you think we smell? Because we just got kicked off a plane for smelling,’” Ms Adler told WPLG.

“They were like, ‘Oh my God we’re so embarrassed for you that someone would do such a thing, no’.”
