A Russian refugee remains behind bars while he waits to be sentenced over faking qualifications to work as a psychiatrist in Queensland hospitals.
Vincent Victor Berg was due to be sentenced at the Southport District Court on Thursday, but his legal team abandoned the case citing an irreconcilable conflict.
Barrister Sarah Thompson told the court she and solicitor Michael Gatenby were "no longer able to remain in the matter. We are conflicted."
It prompted Judge Katherine McGinness to adjourn the matter until June 14 to give Berg time to find a new legal team.
He was found guilty in March of using bogus credentials from a Russian university to convince administrators at Gold Coast Health in 1999 he was qualified to observe patients.
Later, while working at four north Queensland hospitals, he prescribed medications that gave serious side-effects to several patients.
