A man accused of grooming and raping a 13-year-old girl in Sydney's southwest is facing 17 charges after allegedly meeting her online.
Police say the 28-year-old man groomed the girl after meeting her through social media, before arranging to meet her in the Minto area on August 3 when he sexually assaulted her.
He was arrested a week later at Hornsby in Sydney's north and his phone was seized for examination.
His charges include having sexual intercourse with a child between 10 and 16, possessing child abuse material and administering or attempting to administer a prohibited drug to another.
The man was refused bail when he appeared at Hornsby Local court on August 11.
Detectives will charge the man with an additional five child abuse-related matters in court on Wednesday as investigations continue.
