Victoria's corruption watchdog has charged a former detective and a serving sergeant over the handling of sensitive police information.

The Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission charged a former detective senior constable with four counts of unauthorised access, use or disclosure of police information.

In a separate matter, a serving sergeant is charged with four counts of disclosing restricted matters, one of making a false or misleading statement and one of perjury.

The former detective is due to face court on July 3 and the sergeant will face court on June 1.
