Evraz worker dies from workplace injury at Regina facility

An Evraz worker died at the company's Regina facility on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for Evraz North America confirmed via email that a contractor died at the facility on Nov. 19.

"Our hearts go out to the individual's family, friends and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time," the statement said.

The steel giant said it is fully co-operating with police and their investigation, but provided no more details because of the "sensitivity" of the investigation.

Evraz also said the safety of its workers is its highest priority.

"We are committed to supporting our employees and contractors during this challenging time while continuing to ensure the well-being of everyone who works at or visits our facilities," said the email.
