Everything we know about The Wheel of Time season 3 so far
In case you somehow missed it (um where have you been?) season two of Prime Video's The Wheel of Time dropped late last week and we are obsessed. The fantasy series, based on the novel series of the same name by Robert Jordan, tells the story of Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), a member of the Aes Sedai, who takes five young people on a journey, believing one of them to be the reincarnation of the Dragon, who, when reborn, will either save or destroy the world.
The first three episodes of season two may have only just dropped, but many fans (us included) are already keen to know if this is the last we'll see of the cast or if they'll return for a third season.
Here's everything we know about The Wheel of Time season three.
Is The Wheel of Time season 3 happening?
Good news! The Wheel of Time season three was already confirmed back in July 2022 ahead of the release of season two this year.
The exciting announcement was made at Comic-Con last year, with series show-runner Rafe Judkins saying: "I’m so thrilled that we’ll be making a third season of The Wheel of Time. The Shadow Rising has always been my favourite book in the series, so being able to bring it to television and introduce new audiences to the stories that made me fall in love with these books in the first place is such an honour, and something I’ve been working toward since I first pitched the show years and years ago."
What will The Wheel of Time season 3 cover?
As previously mentioned by show-runner Rafe Judkins, season three of The Wheel of Time will cover the fourth book in The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan called The Shadow Rising.
This is the official synopsis of The Shadow Rising:
"The Stone of Tear, invulnerable fortress of legend, has fallen. The Children of the Dragon have risen to the call of prophecy and march to the aid of the Light. Callandor, the Sword That Is Not a Sword, is held by Rand al'Thor, the man proclaimed as the Dragon Reborn.
"But still the shadows lengthen and still the Forsaken grow in strength. If he is to fight them, Rand must master the male half of the True Source, a power corrupted by the Dark One, a power that drives men to madness, a power that may save or damn the world."
The first season covered the first book in the series The Eye of The World and season two focuses on the second and third books The Great Hunt and The Dragon Reborn.
Who is in the cast of The Wheel of Time season 3?
Right now we don't have an official cast list confirmed for three season, but there's many names we can't expect to not feature in the next season.
This is everyone we can expect to return for season three:
Rosamund Pike as Moiraine Damodred
Daniel Henney as Lan Mandragoran
Josha Stradowski as Rand al’Thor

The Wheel of Time season 3 release date speculation
As of yet we don't have an official release date for The Wheel of Time season three, but given the gap in between season one and two it appears we may be waiting a while for another season.
Season one aired in November 2021, after filming beginning in early 2020. Season two began filming in July 2021 and the new season is now airing in September 2023.
Given the previous record of it taking roughly two years to get a new season of The Wheel of Time, it may appear we won't see season three until at least 2025.
