EU redistribution numbers for asylum seekers, refugees

Brussels (AFP) - The European Commission on Wednesday asked member states to admit 20,000 Syrian refugees from outside Europe and process another 40,000 asylum seekers from Syria and Eritrea landing in Italy and Greece.

The distribution would be bound by complex rules: national economic output, population, unemployment rates and the number of refugees already admitted to an individual country.

For the 20,000 Syrian refugees, the distribution is as follows.

Austria: 2.22 percent or 444 people

Belgium: 2.45 percent or 490 people

Bulgaria: 1.08 percent or 216 people

Croatia: 1.58 percent or 315 people

Cyprus: 0.34 percent or 69 people

Czech Republic: 2.63 percent or 525 people

Estonia: 1.63 percent or 326 people

Finland: 1.46 percent or 293 people

France: 11.87 percent or 2,375 people

Germany: 15.43 percent or 3,086 people

Greece: 1.61 percent or 323 people

Hungary: 1.53 percent or 307 people

Italy: 9.94 percent or 1,989 people

Latvia: 1.10 percent or 220 people

Lithuania: 1,03 percent or 207 people

Luxembourg: 0.74 percent or 147 people

Malta: 0.60 percent or 121 people

Netherlands: 3,66 percent percent or 732 people

Poland: 4.81 percent or 962 people

Portugal: 3.52 percent or 704 people

Romania: 3.29 percent or 657 people

Slovakia: 1.60 percent or 319 people

Slovenia: 1.03 percent or 207 people

Spain: 7,75 percent or 1,549 people

Sweden: 2,46 percent or 491 people
