'She escaped her enclosure': Man's surprising note for neighbours

A man has received a frightening note from his neighbour which left him so scared he has been using a torchlight to walk home at night.

Troy Murphy, from the beachside suburb of Cronulla, 30 kilometres south of Sydney, found the surprising note in his letterbox on Monday night.

The note was from a neighbour asking for help to locate his missing pet snake who was coincidentally named Murfy.

“Murfy is an Australian python,” the note said.

“She escaped her enclosure and was last seen in the garden of this complex.

“She is tame but timid. If you see her please call Tim.”

Mr Murphy was “petrified” when he read the note.

He shared the note to Facebook on Monday, revealing that he had walked home using a torch just in case he encountered the reptile.

“I ran straight inside and closed the door and then checked the entire apartment, including behind the couch and the fridge,” Mr Murphy said.

“I’ve spoken to a few of the others and we were having a bit of a giggle about it.

“We have a sneaking suspicion if it’s come to our building, it’s gone under the building.

“Hopefully Tim finds it and if not, then, I’ll probably call the council and see what they suggest.”

Mr Murphy has some final words of advice for Sydneysiders.

“Don’t be like Tim,” Mr Murphy said. “Keep your snake to yourself!”
