An engagement ring which was lost moments before the proposal has been found in New York and police are searching for the owners.
A man was proposing to his girlfriend in Times Square when he dropped the ring and it fell about 2.4 metres down a utility grate.
The bungle happened just before midnight on Friday, according to the New York Police Department.
The couple asked police for help, but emergency service officers could not immediately find the sparkler.
Eventually, they found it. But the would-be bride and groom left without leaving their names or contact information.
Police are asking the public to help reunite the couple with the ring, posting a video of the couple trying to retrieve it.
“WANTED for dropping his fiancée’s ring in @TimesSquareNYC,” the New York Police Department tweeted on Saturday.
“She said Yes – but he was so excited that he dropped the ring in a grate.
“Our @NYPDSpecialops officers rescued it and would like to return it to the happy couple.
“Help us find them?”
Police have also released surveillance photos of the couple and showing the woman crouching and the man lying over the grate as they try and retrieve the ring.
