'He deserves better': Elsa Pataky slams Miley Cyrus after Liam Hemsworth split
Elsa Pataky, 43, has taken a savage swipe at her brother-in-law Liam Hemsworth’s soon-to-be-ex-wife Miley Cyrus, openly declaring that the Hunger Games star ‘deserves better’ than the ‘Slide Away’ singer.
The blonde beauty leapt to Liam’s defence on Wednesday while at a launch event for lingerie brand Women’s Secret’s Christmas campaign in Madrid.
Elsa, who is an ambassador for the brand, has been married to Liam’s older brother Chris Hemsworth, 36, for nine years, which saw her become close with both her brother-in-law and his ex.
Liam ‘deserves better’ than Miley
The Spanish-born star pulled no punches when asked how Liam was faring three months after his shock marriage breakdown.
“My brother-in-law, well… After a relationship that you've dedicated ten years to, he's a little bit down, but he's coping well, he’s a strong boy and he deserves the best, I think he deserves much better,” she said, according to HOLA!.
“You always find support in your family, and he's joined at the hip with his brother, who has been there to give all the strength he needed,” she added, no doubt referring to Liam’s retreat to Chris and Elsa’s Byron Bay mansion following his August split from Miley.
The mum-of-three’s strong statement appears at odds with her and Miley’s years-long friendship, with the pals spotted on shopping trips, having lunch, at music festivals, and getting matching wave tattoos in the past.
Miley and Liam’s relationship timeline
Miley and Liam first met on the set of their film Last Song in 2008 and have had an on-and-off relationship ever since, breaking up briefly in 2010 before reuniting and becoming engaged two years later.
But that wedding was called off, with Miley hooking up with actor Patrick Schwarzenegger and model Stella Maxwell, until she and Liam were then photographed together at an Aussie music festival in 2016.
The pair eventually tied the knot in December 2018, but split less than eight months later. Photos then emerged of Miley kissing then-married reality star Kaitlynn Carter.
Miley is currently dating homegrown heartthrob and The Masked Singer winner, 22-year-old Cody Simpson, while Liam has been spotted getting cosy with Sydney-born actor Maddison Brown, 22.
Lindsay slams Miley
Elsa’s comments about Miley come just weeks after Masked Singer judge Lindsay Lohan made her opinion on Cody - who dated her younger sister, Aliana Lohan, back in 2018 - and the Hannah Montanna star’s new romance abundantly clear.
The Parent Trap star shared a searing Instagram post in which she slammed the “Surfboard” hitmaker, suggesting that he had ‘failed’ and ‘lost on [his] future’ by ending his relationship with Ali, 25, and hooking up with Miley.
Lilo also appeared to imply that Cody had ‘settled for less’ with his current lady love, who he was spotted kissing in LA back in October.
