Fire crews have urged householders to shut their windows as they tackle an electric vehicle fire in Devon.

Crews said on X, formerly Twitter, that a "large amount of smoke" was being given off by the vehicle at the scene in Cranbrook, near Exeter.

Three fire engines were called to the scene on Friday morning, said Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

Firefighters were using a ventilation fan "to clear gases in neighbouring properties", it added.

"Crews are asking anybody in close vicinity to keep their windows closed due to the large amount of smoke," said the fire service earlier.
