Elderly woman wakes up with huge snake on top of her

An elderly woman jumped out of her bed in a panic, woken by a huge snake that had curled up on top of her, under the sheets.

The woman, from Brisbane’s outer suburb of Jindalee, became startled in the middle of the night when she heard two loud thuds. The drowsy lady figured it was probably nothing and went back to sleep.

About 3am her slumber was disturbed again when she felt “weight and corresponding ‘cold spots’ on her body,” Snake Catchers Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan & Gold Coast said in a Facebook post.

A 1.8 metre carpet python had made its way to her bed and ended up under the sheets, laying on top of the elderly woman as she slept.

She leaped out of the bed with a fright and called the snake catchers.

“The snake had come through the fan in her ensuite, knocked over a few bedroom ornaments in the dark and then made its way by accident into the bed,” the snake catchers shared on Facebook today.

After the terrified woman jumped out of bed, the serpent settled on the shelf above the bedhead and didn’t move until the experts showed up.

“This 1.8 metre carpet python was casually sitting as pictured on this bed head when we arrived,” they wrote.

“Although she was a bit frazzled by the encounter it could be said she took the experience pretty well.”
