An elderly man has been attacked with a glass bottle during a home invasion at his unit in Sydney's west.
The 77-year-old was awoken between 8am and 9am on Monday by noise coming from the kitchen in his home in Fairfield, police said.
He found a woman rummaging through drawers, removing clothes.
When he tried to get her to leave the unit she hit him over the head with a glass bottle, knocking him unconscious and cutting his head.
He was found on his veranda by a family member at 4pm, and was taken to hospital.
Police are looking for the woman, who they say is Caucasian, muscular, and aged between 35-40.
