A woman has been found dead in a suburban Melbourne house, with a 78-year-old man taken away by police in handcuffs.
The body of the woman, also aged 78, was found in the Patterson Lakes home on Sunday night and police arrested the man, believed to be her husband.
Neighbours said there was no noise or commotion coming from the house on Sunday night.
Ann Gibbons said the couple had children and grandchildren and the woman worked as a cleaner.
"I know they've probably had a few issues but otherwise they've been a quiet couple," Ms Gibbons told the Herald Sun.
Police are yet to release the cause of death but the homicide squad is investigating.
