Ed Sheeran and wife Cherry Seaborn welcome baby girl
Ed Sheeran and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, have announced the arrival of a baby girl.
Taking to his Instagram page, the 29-year-old the Shape Of You singer shared the exciting personal news, while also revealing the unusual name of the couple’s new daughter.
The star captioned a photo of baby socks lying on a colourful blanket: “Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you.
“Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter - Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.
“We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x”
Fans rushed to congratulate the singer, with many stating their shock over the surprising news.
“I can’t believe it,” one person wrote, with another saying: “Awwww wonderful news huge congratulations to you both”.

Ed’s baby announcement was the first post he’s made on the social media site since December 24th, 2019, when he announced that he was taking a break from music and his Instagram page.
“I’ve been a bit non stop since 2017 so I’m just gonna take a breather to travel, write and read,” he wrote.
“I promise to be back with some new music when the time is right and I’ve lived a little more to actually have something to write about.”
At the beginning of August, rumours swirled that Ed and 28-year-old Cherry, who married last year, were expecting their first child together.
According to The Sun, the couple wanted to keep it “low key”, which they have succeeded very well in doing.
“Lockdown was a perfect excuse not to be seen out and about too much, but things are getting closer and the excitement has been building so they have started telling friends and family,” a source told the publication.
“They’re just making the last of the preparations at home, and the baby is expected later this summer.”
Ed and Cherry got engaged in January 2018, with Ed taking to his Instagram at the time to write: “Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx”
The couple met when they were kids at Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham int he UK but only started dating in 2015.
