EastEnders airs major cliffhanger for Linda Carter

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has aired a shocking cliffhanger for Linda Carter and Dean Wicks.

Monday's (January 22) instalment finished with Dean publicly announcing his relationship with Gina Knight and kissing her in front of the entire Queen Vic.

Linda has been focused on the fallout of killing Keanu Taylor since Christmas, as she'd just come off Dean finally confessing he'd raped her ahead of the festive cliffhanger.

The latest episode started with Gina admitting her reluctance to go public as Dean's girlfriend since she knew her family would not approve.

Dean's efforts to get Gina to change her mind were unsuccessful, so he confided in Ian that he was having trouble in his love life.

Without knowing Dean was referring to Gina, Ian encouraged Dean to prove to his 'mystery woman' that he was fully committed to her.

Dean interpreted this as Ian encouraging him to make a grand gesture, so he turned up at the packed Vic to present Gina with flowers and kiss her.

George Knight ordered Dean to get away from his daughter, only to be left reeling when the villain decided to reveal his secret romance.

"Listen up, big fella, I'm dating Gina, alright, we're together," he announced to an irate George. "There's nothing that you, [turning to Linda] or anyone else, can do to stop that!"

The episode closed with a horrified Linda sharing a look with her equally shocked mum Elaine over Dean's latest stunt.

This very public declaration of love from Dean will cause shockwaves in Gina's family, even driving her mother Cindy Beale to make Dean an offer to stay away from her daughter.

Will Gina carry on with Dean?

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
