Dying mum sees son graduate in moving bedside ceremony

A terminally-ill mother in hospital was granted her dying wish when she was able to witness her son graduate from high school in a special bedside ceremony.

Julie Northcott shared a touching Facebook Live video on May 4 of Stephanie Northcott watching her son, Dalton Jackson, graduate from her hospital bed in Memphis, Tennessee, surrounded by friends and family.

Ms Northcott has Lynch Syndrome – the same disease that claimed the life of her 20-year-old daughter in 2010, CBS News reported.

The impromptu ceremony took place in Baptist Memorial Hospital East two weeks before the official Halls High School graduation ceremony.

Dozens of Dalton’s classmates made their way to the hospital in graduation attire before medical staff rolled Ms Northcott’s bed into the hospital’s chapel for the ceremony.

Dalton was handed his graduation certificate by school principal Suzanne Keefe, who was visibly emotional during the ceremony.

Dalton then helped his mother out of her bed before sharing a special dance with her to celebrate the momentous occasion.

The family is asking for donations to fund Ms Northcott’s funeral expenses.

Doctors say Ms Northcott may have only days to live.
